Instrumentation
The HMC Chemistry Department has two NMR spectrometers:
- Bruker DPX 400 - a 400MHz cryogenic magnet system.
This is a Fourier transform (FT) system capabale of
spectroscopy on a wide range of nuclei, ranging in
resonant frequency from 109Ag to
31P.
- Bruker AC 200 - a 200MHz cryogenic magnet system.
This is a Fourier transform (FT) system capable of
spectroscopy on a wide range of nuclei, including
1H, 13C, 15N,
19F, 31P and a host of others. This
system is also has the capacity to do solid-state
experiments.
Data Analysis Software
In addition to the data acquisition and analysis software
running on the AC 200 and DPX 400, there are a range of
software packages available for off-line analysis of data:
- NUTS
can analyze one-dimensional data generated on the AC 200
and DPX 400. This software package runs on PowerPC
Macintoshes and Windows 3.1/95/98 PCs. The Macintosh
version is available on the HMC file server Kato at
Kato.Mac:Chemistry:NMR:MacNUTS_PPC, whereas the PC
versions are available at g:\apps\dept\chem\nuts. This
software package is also running on the PC located in the
NMR laboratory (Jacobs 309) and on the PCs in the P-Chem
computational laboratory.
- XWinNMR
can analyze one-, two-, and three-dimensional data
generated on the DPX400. This software package runs only
on the Chemistry Department's SGI cluster.
- XWinPLOT
can be used to customize the output of XWinNMR. This
software package runs only on the Chemistry Department's
SGI cluster.
- MacFID can analyze one-dimensional data generated on
the AC 200. This software package runs only on PowerPC
Macintoshes and is available on the HMC file server Kato
at Kato.Mac:Chemistry:NMR:MacFID. This software package
is also running on the Macintosh networked to the AC 200,
located in the NMR laboratory (Jacobs 309).
Data Transfer
Information on how to transfer data from the DPX 400 to
PCs, Macintoshes, and Unix boxes is also
available.
